Ludhiana | A man has been arrested for stealing a woman’s phone and sending altered images to her contacts

The woman, who works in a private company in Ludhiana, said the defendant even tried to extort money from her. They had planned to get married. One day he would have taken his phone and kept it with him. She said he took footage from her phone and turned into a lewd image.

A Tibba Road resident has been convicted for allegedly altering photos of a 27-year-old townsman and sending them to colleagues and relatives with the intention of defaming her.

The woman, who works in a private company, said the defendant even tried to extort money from her. She said she met the defendant, Sonu Yadav of Tibba Road, about eight months ago. They had planned to get married.

One day he would have taken his phone and kept it with him. She said he took footage from her phone and turned into a lewd image.

The woman said the defendant then demanded money for not sharing images with them and started sending it to colleagues and relatives.

Tibba Station Officer Inspector Ranbir Singh said shortly after receiving information, the police filed an FIR.

The accused was convicted under Sections 420 (cheating and dishonest inducement to deliver goods), 385 (causing a person to fear injury in order to commit extortion), 354-C (voyeurism), 506 ( criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67A of the Information Technology Act. A hunt is on for his arrest.
