A beloved Katy’s restaurant is getting bigger. Phat Eatery will open its second location in Grogan’s Mill Village in The Woodlands in early 2023.
With 7,800 square feet of space, the new location at 2290 Buckthorne Place is more than twice the size of the original and will accommodate up to 180 guests in the dining room. Three private dining rooms will each accommodate between 12 and 80 people.
“I have been considering expanding my business to The Woodlands for some time,” owner Alex Au-Yeung said in a statement. “Finding good real estate in The Woodlands isn’t easy, but we found the perfect place with room to make the menu I’ve always wanted.”
Semi-finalist of the 2022 James Beard Awards for Best Chef: Texas, Au-Yeung opened Phat Eatery in Katy Asian Town in 2018. The restaurant serves a selection of Malaysian specialties like roti canai, satay skewers and beef rendang alongside Hong Kong-style dim sum. including BBQ pork buns, Har Gau and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves.
Most menu items from the original location will migrate to the second location. Au-Yeung plans to expand the homemade dim sum selection at the new location and will feature steamed rice rolls and xiao long bao. He also plans to debut his version of Chinese barbecue pork and Peking duck and, during the lunch service, he will offer Bian Dang, inspired by the Japanese bento.
The Phat Eatery team is developing a range of Asian-inspired craft cocktails to complement the menu.
Phat Eatery at The Woodlands will serve lunch and dinner daily. Dedicated curbside parking will streamline take-out and delivery services, both of which can be ordered online directly from the restaurant.
