Con Alma Shadyside announced this week, after about a year of having a full vegetarian menu, that they will be switching to an all plant-based menu. This means that the restaurant will only serve vegan food and drinks. The new menu is available now.

It has been announced that this Lawrenceville boutique, launched by chef Justin Severino in 2018, will be closing permanently. While the brick-and-mortar location may go away, customers can still purchase deli staples through the company’s online store.

Mindful Brewing x Schneider’s Dairy
3759 Library Road, Chateau Shannon.
Mindful Brewing and Pittsburgh-area staple Schneider’s Dairy have teamed up to create lemon iced tea. The original version sold out quickly, so get yours while you can.

Khalil Restaurant
4757 Baum Boulevard, Oakland.
On Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18, Khalil’s will celebrate its 50th anniversary weekend and outdoor Maharajan Festival. The festivities will include live music, belly dancers and Syrian-style street food, plus a champagne toast, henna painting and more.

Steel City x Turner’s Iced Tea

Pittsburgh residents have been sipping Turner’s iced tea from these classic cartons for decades. Steel City recently released a series of t-shirts, sweatshirts and other merchandise paying homage to the sugary cold drink produced by Turner’s Dairy. Check out the variety of models on the Steel City website, including one declaring Turner as the “champagne of Pittsburgh.”

Carmi’s Soul Food

Carmi Soul Food will celebrate Juneteenth with a Soul Food Brunch and music from DJ Smoke. The menu includes brunch classics like shrimp and grits, mac and cheese, scrambled eggs and potatoes, with soulful dishes like candied yams and greens. Tickets are $30 and available now.

Eastern Brewery
147 Julius Street, Larimer.
As a follow-up to its You Are Here series, East End Brewing honored Swisshelm Park with a Hazy IPA. Described as having flavors of white grapes and melon, this beer is perfect for summer and is available now.

Waterfront Burgers and Bourbon – A Fundraiser for Tree Pittsburgh
32 62nd Street, Lawrenceville.
On Thursday, June 16 starting at 6 p.m., head to Tree Pittsburgh Headquarters for a night of burgers and bourbon, all in aid of the local nonprofit’s efforts. Sprezzatura will be on hand to provide freshly grilled beef or vegan burgers (made with sweet potatoes, black beans and corn), as well as toppings, sides and salads. Sip bourbon cocktails featuring Coopers’ Craft and select Dancing Gnome beers, plus soft drinks. Tickets are $100, and proceeds will go to support Tree Pittsburgh’s mission to restore and protect the city’s urban forest.
