The Tyler County Mobile Food Pantry, in conjunction with the Mountaineer Food Bank, set up in the parking lot of First Baptist Church on Thursday, July 14. Lines were long and volunteers were busy distributing food. The mobile food pantry conducts approximately thirty mobile food distributions per month to various counties in West Virginia. Mountaineer Food Bank (MFB), a member of Feeding America, is the state of West Virginia’s largest emergency food provider serving families, children, seniors and those at risk of hunger. MFB is centrally located in Gassaway, WV, but provides food and other household items to 48 of West Virginia’s 55 counties. Over the past year, MFB and its Food Network have distributed over 23 million pounds of food to those in need. To actively fight hunger, Mountaineer Food Bank offers a variety of food programs, which include food pantries, mobile pantries, backpack programs, school pantries, soup kitchens, l food, a children’s market program, CSFP (food boxes for seniors) and the Veterans’ Table Food Program.
With the help of generous donors, volunteers, and partners, MFB is able to feed the hungry in West Virginia and provide programs that help individuals, families, and communities thrive.
