BRANSON, Mo. (KY3) – Elevate Branson will be hosting their 14th annual free “Love Your Neighbor” Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday.
Executive Director Bryan Stallings says there is a growing need for food aid in the community. The organization is ready to serve those in need this holiday season.
“Thanksgiving is just a tough time for a lot of people,” said Bryan Stalling. “I mean, if you are isolated in a motel room, you are separated from your family, it can be very difficult.”
Stallings says the dinner drive will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Parish Center across from Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Volunteers will also deliver meals to people living in motels and extended stay apartments in Branson.
“We have a lot of people living in motels here in Branson and a lot of them are frontline workers because Branson has such a shortage of affordable housing,” Stallings said.
This can create many challenges for Branson residents.
“When you think of a motel room, you don’t have a full kitchen, so how are you going to prepare your Thanksgiving meal? Stallings said.
Elevate Branson expects to serve 700 to 1,000 meals on Thursday. The association accepts donations to finance the meal. You can even sponsor a plate for $ 25.
Due to concerns over COVID-19, Elevate was not able to use as many volunteers as in the past.
“In the past, we used 200 to 300 volunteers,” Stalling said. “We’ve really come down to around 50 and those positions have all been filled. “
Stallings says they’re asking people to call Elevate Branson on Thanksgiving Day and tell them where you are and how many meals you need to bring yourself.
Elevate Branson’s number is 417-335-9915.
