Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, an Austin-based movie theater chain where you can order food while you watch the movie, is expected to have its first-ever New England location at Boston Seaport in early 2023, according to a press release.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alamo Drafthouse to Seaport and welcome its first location in Boston. It’s a premier theater that brings movies and meals together to create an exceptional and fun experience for everyone,” said Ariel Foxman, general manager of Seaport Boston WS Development, in the press release.
The new Seaport location at 60 Seaport Blvd. in the South Boston Waterfront will be a 10-screen theater with approximately 767 seats – with luxury recliners in each auditorium. The theater will feature several first-run films along with specialty programming and a menu of food and beverages made from scratch, according to the press release.
Alamo Drafthouse Boston Seaport will also have a full-service bar called The Press Room. Craft cocktails, wine and local craft beers on tap will be served at the Press Room Bar. The bar also serves as a printing museum and functioning letterpress printing workshop that displays more than 10,000 vintage film advertising plates from the 1930s to the 1980s, the press release said.
The theater’s auditoriums will feature “high-end” 4K digital projection and dynamic surround sound. In addition to 35mm change projection, classic movies and newer films can both be seen in “glorious celluloid,” according to the release.
